Weekend in Savannah

Carl had Friday off, so we headed to Savannah, GA for the weekend. I had high hopes of running into Paula Deen, but had to suffice with walking by her restaurant instead. It is nearly impossible to get a table at The Lady and Sons, and I didn't feel like spending half my day standing in line for a reservation (unless I was guaranteed a meet and greet with The Lady herself!).
Savannah is a beautiful town with lots of history. Although Ben got very excited whenever a tour bus drove by, we didn't think he would be up for an actual tour. So, we picked up a map from one of the tour companies and did our own walking tour of the historic district. Ben was content to be pushed around in his stroller the entire day. It helped that there were squares, which are little parks, every few blocks. Many of them had either fountains or dogs playing, so Ben really couldn't have asked for anything more!
Ben thoroughly enjoyed his strawberry shake from Leopold's Ice Cream. You know you've found a true ice cream shop when they give you the excess shake that doesn't fit in your glass!

We stayed in a really cute condo that was in a house built in 1791. The bedrooms were awesome - I loved the exposed brick and stone walls. The hardwood floors on the second level were original and there was a fireplace in almost every room.

Other highlight's of Ben's weekend included exploring all of the cupboards in the house and watching horse drawn carriages pass by. He had his farm animals a little confused at first - he would point and say "Baa, Baa" whenever a horse would pass us, but by the end of the weekend he knew that "Neigh, Neigh" was more appropriate!
