1 Week Old

I can't believe that Ella's first week has already ended! She is still sleeping most of the time, but has started to have longer alert periods during the day. Fortunately, she is sleeping longer at night, too! So far, she is really a content little girl! Today, we celebrated by taking her on her first trip to the Village Market for a chicken pesto sandwich!

She is also a great snuggler!

Ella had her first stroller ride last night and loved it. She managed to stay awake for almost 2 blocks! Ben kept looking back at her while saying "Ella, back seat!". He also seems to like the new double stroller.

Aunt Kimmie took Ben to Toy's R Us and told him that he could pick out his birthday present. He wanted a huge bottle of bubbles that resembled a Tide bottle, but she helped steer him towards the tricycles instead. He was pretty happy with his "decision" when he took it out for a spin this morning!
It has been a rough couple of days for Ben. I think the reality of this new addition to the family is starting to sink in. We will have visitors for the next couple of weeks and then we will hopefully get settled back into a more normal routine. One day he will thank us for his little sister!

Kristen, she's so beautiful. What double stroller did you get. I can't decide if I really need one or not.

How wonderful to have your sister and mom there to help and welcome beautiful Ella in this world. Someone told me before Allie was born, that it is more important to pay attention to the "big" baby then then "little" one at the beginning. Because the little one doesn't know any different! :) It is a rough transition but I know that Ben will soon adore his little sister!

Kristen, Ella is absolutely adorable. I can't wait to get to Florida for some snuggle time. I'm sure Ben will adjust soon. Aunt Paula

Kristin, two wonderful children. You and Carl are so lucky. And, Aunt Myrna and I are so blessed to be part of your lives here in Gainesville. Can't wait to see you when we come back from Chicago. And to see Ben on his new bike. Say goodnight to the Tide bottles for us. And give big kisses to Ben and Ella for me

love,

It will sure be hard for Auntie Marcia and I when you and Carl go back to IL next year. Notice I said you and Carl (not my babes-they have to stay with us) Yeah, right! They are beautiful and the sweetest little things. Ben will be a great big brother and teach Ella all about washing clothes. We are so thankful that you have made us a part of the Drake family. Love you all,
Auntie Myrna
