Countdown To The Olympics!!

It's been pretty hot and humid down here in FL, so if we're outside past 9:30am, we're at the pool . . . . . .or playing in the watering can!
This weekend, we went to the Redmond's house for an authentic Southern meal. Jeff and Rochelle are from Louisiana and made us shrimp po-boys with fresh gulf shrimp and sweet potato fries. Fischer is 6 months older than Ben and is his new pool buddy. Fischer is also teaching Ben how to share!
After 2 long months, Ridge and Ben were finally reunited. We were very sad to see the Gamblins off to Jacksonville at the end of May, buy we are excited that Jeff will complete his orthodontic residency while there. Plus, we now have a sweet hook-up at the Jacksonville zoo! We went to the Village Market for lunch (of course!), but unfortunately both boys crashed when we got home so they didn't get to play together. At least Mary Shelton and I had time to catch up! We are looking forward to a trip to Jax to see their new house in a couple of weeks!
Last night marked another first for Ben - a trip to the bowling alley! A bowling social for the various dental specialties was organized and Ben was excited to show off his walking skills. He knew he was going to have a good night when he walked in and immediately recognized his 2 favorite objects of the moment - balls and fans! And just when he thought his night couldn't get any better, pretty ladies were everywhere calling to him with open arms. He happily walked to each one, clapping all the way!
Dave (another 2nd year resident), Ben and Carl
Ben is talking about the fan (he says faaaaa)

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Ben busted his lip at the pool this morning. He took it like a man, and even showed off his fat lip for the camera. The other guy looks a lot worse!

This past week we've really just been passing time until the Olympics begin. Carl's 2 week break just happens to coincide with the Summer Games - seriously, I can't believe my luck! Now if only I could fly my friend Carrie B down to spend hours on the couch with me. We'd have a bag of Sour Patch kids and a 2 liter of Diet Coke to sustain us and she'd definitely be wearing her patriotic flip flops - oh, how I miss college some days!
