Mother's Day Weekend

We started our weekend with a camping trip with the Drake family. Carl and Ben spent both Friday and Saturday nights in the tent, and Ella and I enjoyed "camping" during the day and sleeping in our warm, comfy beds at night! All of Ben's cousins made it out to the campground, and they had lots of fun hiking, wrestling, and playing at the playgrounds!

Singing campfire songs was also a hit among the kids, especially since they knew that Smore's came next! Connor shared his guitar with Ella and Bridget, even offering a few pointers!

Ella loves Penelope and preferred to share a chair with her instead of sitting alone!

Great-Grandpa Beagles supervised Ben as he roasted his first marshmallow over the campfire.

All of the kids were so worn out at the end of the day!

We spent Mother's Day with my family. Ben and Ella are pictured above with me, my mom, and both of their maternal great-grandmas! We were so lucky to be able to spend time with all of the wonderful moms in their lives this weekend!

It was in the 80's on Sunday and the kids' couldn't resist splashing their feet in the freezing lake water. Ben's pants got wet in the process, and the only clean, dry pants we had at the end of our weekend were swimming trunks. And, of course, once he was in his trunks, he had to go swimming. None of us thought he would actually get in since the water was so cold, but he did . . . . . .again, and again, and again!!!

Ella was very upset that we wouldn't let her get in, but we didn't trust her swimming around in the lake by herself yet, and there was no way that any of us were going to get in with her!! She had to settle with getting her legs dunked in the water this time!
